Trees in Fall, Contrasting Colors, with Blue Mountain

Here are my two shots of the same tree, with mountains peeking through in the background. For composition, contrast, color, and everything else, the first one is just what I love to see. The second one, I took to get closer and to pick up a little more detail.

Landscape Photos: North Georgia Mountains in Fall

This is another of my favorite fall landscape photos, which I'd love to paint. Once again, it reminds me of a George Bellows landscape ~ so I'm thinking we were both inspired by similar things.

Fall Scenes with Tree and House in Curve of Road

Two of my fall photographs ~ I thought I took all these in 2014, but come to think of it, it was 2013. Oh, well. These are my own personal shots for inspiration. I published these, along with an art discussion, on my other blog (The Talking Artist). I'm just putting them here because I'm trying to keep all my landscape shots on one blog, easily accessible when I need them...

Soft Pines and Golden Tree in Fall

Soft Pines and Golden Tree in Fall

This is the same golden tree as in a previous post. I took so many shots of this one, trying to capture the soft look of the deep, green pine boughs against the brilliant golden tree. The gray, bare trees in the background give everything a soft look. The day was overcast, so the colors look really deep, rich, and velvety.

This golden tree was just incredible, partly hidden in the curve of the road. The deep green of the pine trees adds contrast, and all of the brilliant colors are offset by a lovely, muted gray of bare trees in the background. I took quite a few shots of this tree, getting a little closer in each one. The colors inspire me.

Mountains in Fall, with Grays

Here are three more photos, in which I've tried to capture the softness of the mountains in fall. They have such beautiful nuances of colors, mixed with grays. Everything looks so soft and velvety. The evergreens here have such a deep teal or juniper green ~ they're amazing. The second photo shows a nice range of hues, with golds, greens, reds, and grays. Unfortunately, there are telephone lines, as always.

I'm very much drawn to cedars and other evergreens. I love the contrast of colors between them and other trees, especially in spring and fall. In these photos, the colors are so rich and varied! Everything has a soft, velvety appearance, caused by the more subtle contrasts and nuances of color on each branch and bud. The photos never do the scenes real justice, but in this case, I've captured much of what I love most about the woods in fall.
